WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY CRITERIA
BODY MASS INDEX
You have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or greater. BMI is calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by the square of your height in metres. You can confirm your BMI with your doctor, or use our easy BMI calculator below.
OBESITY-ASSOCIATED ILLNESS
You have a BMI 35-40 AND an associated obesity related illness such as diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnoea, osteoarthritis, or hypertension.
WEIGHT
Your weight is greater than 45kg above the ideal body weight for your sex and height.
AGE
You are aged between 18 & 65
OF SOUND MIND
You have no psychiatric or drug dependency problems.
CAPACITY
You have a capacity to understand the risks and commitment associated with weight loss surgery.
